BASIC RACE RULES, REGULATIONS & CONCEPT
The concept of the Trans Baviaans are as follows:
•  It is a team race consisting of 2, 3, or 4 cyclists.
•  ALL MEMBERS of the team must complete the distance.
•  Teams must visit a number of compulsory checkpoints along the way.
•  Assistance from support vehicles can only be provided at indicated checkpoints. For Corporate Entrants at ALL Checkpoints and for Standard Entrants only Checkpoints #5 & #6.
•  Checkpoints will be equipped to provide food and mechanical assistance.
•  Time penalties will be enforced for transgression of rules.
•  The distance of 230 km from Willowmore to Jeffreys Bay must be completed in 24 hours to qualify for a medal & certificate.
•  Night riding will be necessary and participants must be adequately equipped for this – see rules.

Rules

•  Registration open on Friday (17 August 2007) from 17:00 – 21:00 at the Albertyn Primary School in Adderley street in Willowmore. On Saturday from 7:00 – Start @ Royal Herberg.

•  All information required for the race will be provided at registration. Allow enough time to familiarise yourself with these before the start – especially the route.

•  STARTING TIME is 10:00 exactly on Saturday.

•  Medical assistance will be available at specific checkpoints.

•  The route will not be marked . Ensure that you are familiar with the information provided. Each team will receive:

•  Detail route map.

•  Route profile.

•  Route description

•  Punch-card

•  Checkpoint Bags (x4 for Standard Entrants)

•  Checkpoint Bags is for Standard Entries who will not have back-up support at the first 4 checkpoints. These bags will be marked according to Checkpoint number. These bags must be used to pack equipment, food, clothes, etc. the teams would require at that specific checkpoint and placed on the marked vehicles (a vehicle per checkpoint) at the Start in Willowmore.

•  There will be no water points on the route except at checkpoints. Water (rivers) along the route is drinkable.

•  The event will take place irrespective of weather conditions.

•  Normal Nature Conservation regulations apply and personnel will be present to control.

•  The event is not recommended for beginners and no under 16 will be allowed.

•  Sweep vehicles will be available to act as pick-up vehicle for those that are forced to withdraw. Motorcyclists (medics, & mechanics) is available to assist with emergencies.

•  Postal entries close on 1 August 2007. NO T-SHIRTS after this date.

•  Team member replacements/changes will be subject to a R50 admin fee.

•  No refunds will be made .

•  Prize giving will take place at the Finish ( Jeffreys Bay ) on 19 August 2007 at 12:00 . All support will be withdrawn at 14:00 on Sunday 19 August.

•  A prize will be given to the oldest (average age) team completing the event.
